G.R.E.E.N. Committee

The G.R.E.E.N. Committee (Great Resources for Environmentally Excellent Neighborhoods) of the WCNA (West Central Neighborhood Alliance) is a resource for all things “green” in our neighborhood that help to improve our health, our environment, and our neighborhood aesthetics.

Planting native plants is one way of accomplishing said improvements, because they have co-evolved with local wildlife to provide critical food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and insects. They are low-maintenance, drought-tolerant, and require no fertilizers or pesticides. Furthermore, they conserve water, prevent soil erosion, sequester carbon, and are pleasing to the eye.

Native plants are strongly encouraged for use in landscaping projects of the WCNA-sponsored Grant Avenue Curb Appeal matching grants.
